I thought I was the only one.

‘What draws people to be friends is that they see the same truth. They share it.’
-C.S. Lewis

I’m thankful for the people who see the same truths that I see. They make life a little more bearable. They keep me grounded. They remind me that I am merely a single soul in a world of billions.

Today, I was gently reminded that some souls reach out to each other and connect without any words at all. They touch, share the same experiences and questions and doubts, ready to find solace and familiarity in the most uncertain times.

I believe that, just as we’re never given more than we can bear, we’re always given exactly what we need to provide strength and guidance toward the next step. I believe in finding myself in another person and understanding my own heart, and my own flaws, better because of it.

*The title of this post comes from another C.S. Lewis quote:

‘Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another: “What! You too? I thought I was the only one.”‘
